| Another possibility is that the carburetors are all gummed up. I always recommend putting 3 or 4 ounces of Berrymans B-12 Chemtool Choke and Carburetor Cleaner in a full tank of gasoline and riding slowly so the carburetor has to the B-12/gasoline mixture through the idle jets. Buy the liquid B-12 for mixing with fuel and buy the aol B-12 for spritzing out the carbs if necessary. That will get any varnish out of the carbs and free up the slides and floats and float valves. |
| Carburetor repair: Used a machine screw and nut on the choke pull-off vacuum diaphragm to make it actually open the choke. Dismantled the entire carb, and generally cleaned. This was to get a better understanding of how this particular carb works (though I know well how carburetion works in general) |
| So my quest goes on, to find a diagram of the carburetor passageways...anyone out there have one? Does anyone know what supplies the first charge of fuel that actually starts the engine...which nozzle/jet in the venturi does it come out of and does it come from the accelerator pump or from somewhere else? You wouldnt think this information would be so hard to find. |
| Hi, My daughter is trying to rebuild the carburetor from our 1983 Buick Estate Wagon. It is a Rochester model. She has got it completely apart and now is trying to get it back together. Unfortunately, the diagrams in the rebuild kit dont show enough detail to get everything back together. Is there someplace we can get detailed diagrams for this carburetor? |
