| Another possibility is that the carburetors are all gummed up. I always recommend putting 3 or 4 ounces of Berrymans B-12 Chemtool Choke and Carburetor Cleaner in a full tank of gasoline and riding slowly so the carburetor has to the B-12/gasoline mixture through the idle jets. Buy the liquid B-12 for mixing with fuel and buy the aol B-12 for spritzing out the carbs if necessary. That will get any varnish out of the carbs and free up the slides and floats and float valves. |
| Im currently reading a book titled "Old Tractors and the Men Who Love Them" by Roger Welsch. Roger is one of those guys who if he wasnt so wrapped up in Allis Chalmer WC tractors would probably be a Studebaker owner. He also wrote (or maybe still writes) for a publication called "Successful Farming". In 1994 he wrote this article called "Rogers Simple Guide to Carburetor Adjustment" which I think applies to anything with a carburetor on it: Lee (have ordered three more of his books) That is a good article Lee. I have an Allis WC for sale cheap. It does need a little carburetor work :) |
| So my quest goes on, to find a diagram of the carburetor passageways...anyone out there have one? Does anyone know what supplies the first charge of fuel that actually starts the engine...which nozzle/jet in the venturi does it come out of and does it come from the accelerator pump or from somewhere else? You wouldnt think this information would be so hard to find. |
| Hi, My daughter is trying to rebuild the carburetor from our 1983 Buick Estate Wagon. It is a Rochester model. She has got it completely apart and now is trying to get it back together. Unfortunately, the diagrams in the rebuild kit dont show enough detail to get everything back together. Is there someplace we can get detailed diagrams for this carburetor? |
